How to rotate an image
Upload your picture and the Rotate & flip tab opens. Press Rotate right to turn the image 90° clockwise or Rotate left to turn it 90° counter-clockwise. Press either button twice for 180°. The current angle is shown below the buttons, and the preview animates each turn so you can see which way is up before you download.
Rotation works in 90° steps only. That covers the common problem of a portrait photo lying on its side or a scan fed in upside down. It does not straighten a slightly tilted horizon by a few degrees.
Why photos show up sideways
Phones and cameras often store a photo in the sensor's native orientation and add an orientation tag in the EXIF metadata that tells viewers how to turn it. Some apps, upload forms and older programs ignore that tag, so the image appears sideways even though it looks fine in your gallery.
When SmallPixl saves your file, it applies the orientation to the pixels themselves and drops the EXIF block. The result displays the same way everywhere, whether or not the viewer reads metadata. If a photo already looks correct in the preview, you can download it without rotating and it will keep that orientation.
Rotate, then keep editing
Rotation is one tab in a combined editor. After turning the image you can crop it to a ratio such as 1:1 or 9:16 (the crop is applied to the rotated image, so a sideways photo turned upright crops as a portrait), adjust brightness or contrast, or add text, and everything is rendered together on the server when you download. Rotating by 90° or 270° swaps the width and height, so a 4000×3000 image becomes 3000×4000. PNG files stay PNG; other formats are saved as JPG.
