Visa photo sizes in this tool

The presets cover common visa formats: US visa at 2×2 in (600×600 px at 300 DPI), Schengen visa at 35×45 mm, and China visa at 33×48 mm. The same list includes passport sizes for India, the UK and Canada, because many visa applications use the same dimensions as the country's passport photo.

Visa rules are set by the destination country, not your own, and they can differ from passport rules even when the size is the same. Embassies and visa centres also update requirements, so confirm the size, background colour and any digital upload limits on the official visa website before you start.

How to make a visa photo online

Upload a clear, front-facing photo taken against a plain wall. Select the visa type and the preview crops to that shape, centred, with an oval face guide and lines for the top of the head and the chin. Use the Zoom slider to fit your face; the crop cannot be dragged, so a photo with your face centred works best.

If the background is not plain, pick white or light grey, which many visa authorities ask for; selecting a colour automatically turns on background replacement. Download a single JPG for an online application, or choose Print sheet to get several copies on a 6×4 in page.

Common reasons visa photos are rejected

Shadows on the face or behind the head, uneven lighting and a background that is patterned or not light enough are frequent problems. So are a head that is too small or too large in the frame, a tilted head, an open-mouth smile, closed eyes, and glare on glasses. Photos that are blurry, edited with filters, or more than a few months old can also be refused.

Some online visa applications check the photo automatically and may reject a picture that a person would accept. This tool does not run those checks: it has no face detection and cannot confirm compliance. Use it to get the size and background right, and follow the official guidance for everything else.

Visa Photo Maker FAQ

What is the US visa photo size?

US visa photos are 2×2 in, the same as US passport photos. For online applications, check the current digital image requirements on the official US visa website.

What size is a Schengen visa photo?

Schengen visa photos are commonly 35×45 mm. Individual consulates may add their own requirements, so check with the one handling your application.

Is a China visa photo different from a passport photo?

Yes. The China visa preset is 33×48 mm, which is narrower and taller than the 35×45 mm format. Chinese visa rules are detailed, so review them on the official visa service site.

Can I use the same photo for a visa and a passport?

Sometimes, if both use the same size and rules, but many authorities ask for a recent photo and some specify different backgrounds. Check both sets of requirements.

Does this tool check whether my photo meets visa rules?

No. It crops and sizes the photo and can replace the background, but it does not analyse your face or validate compliance.

Are my images safe?

Your file is sent over HTTPS, processed in memory and returned straight away. It is never stored, never shared and never used for anything else.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no watermark and no limit on how many images you process. Files can be up to 25 MB.
