How to make a white background for a photo
Upload your image and the tool opens with White selected. The server separates the subject from its surroundings and composites it onto pure white (#FFFFFF), covering the full original frame. Preview it, then download as JPG for the widest compatibility or PNG for a lossless file.
Because the backdrop is true white rather than a light grey, it blends seamlessly into white web pages and marketplace listings. Any shadows the original background had are removed along with it.
White backgrounds for product photos
Many online marketplaces ask for, or recommend, product images on a plain white background, and some require it for the main listing photo. Rules about how much of the frame the product should fill vary between platforms and change over time, so check the seller guidelines for the site you use. You can crop the result to a square in the Image Cropper afterwards if needed.
For the cleanest result, shoot the product on a surface that contrasts with it, in soft, even light, with the whole item in focus. Shiny, transparent or white products on a white table are the hardest cases, because the model has little to tell the edges apart.
White backgrounds for documents and profiles
A white background is common for resumes, employee directories, ID cards and some official photos. If you need a passport, visa or ID photo at a specific size, use the Passport Photo Maker instead, which also crops to the correct dimensions, offers white, light grey and light blue, and exports at 300 DPI.
As with any automatic cut-out, wispy hair and fine details can be trimmed or show a slight halo. Plain clothing that contrasts with the original background helps.
